Information about ultrasonic homogenizers

Ultrasonic homogenizers often called "sonicators", destroy tissue and cells through cavitation and ultrasound. The tip of the ultrasonic homogenizer vibrates very rapidly, which causes bubbles in the surrounding solution to form and burst rapidly. This creates shear and shock waves that tear apart cells and particles.

Ultrasonic sonicators are well suited for separating cells and subcellular structures in suspension. They are not good for homogenizing intact tissue. Other applications include making emulsions, dispersing nanoparticles, and reducing the size of suspended particles.

l Benefits of the ultrasonic homogenizer.

Applications of ultrasonic homogenizers

Ultrasonic homogenization of nanomaterials has attracted the attention of scientists, researchers, and engineers from almost all branches because nanometer-sized particles display unique properties. Their physical properties, such as optical and magnetic properties, specific heat, melting point, and surface reactivity, offer great potential for materials with extraordinary strength. However, the smaller the particles, the more difficult it is to treat them. Ultrasonic homogenizers are usually the best way to effectively affect nanoparticles. In most cases, high-powered ultrasonic homogenizers are the only effective way to achieve the desired grinding and dispersion results for nanoparticles (e.g. nanotubes, graphene, metal oxides, etc.).

The impact of ultrasonic homogenization systems on biological and microbial systems is manifold: dispersion and homogenization, cell and tissue lysis (e.g. bacteria, yeast, viruses, algae ......), and extraction of intracellular substances such as proteins, ribosomes, RNA, lipids, peptides, plant cell transformation.

Ultrasonic homogenization of emulsions is encountered in many different forms in everyday life, for example in cosmetics or emulsions. Technical applications of ultrasonic homogenization range from the production of paints and varnishes to the homogenization of wastewater and soil samples (for analytical purposes) to sample preparation for particle size analysis.

In particular, industrial wastewater is continuously checked for the presence of heavy metals, fats, or oils in environmental laboratories so that immediate action can be taken in case of excessive concentrations. To obtain representative analytical results, it is necessary to convert the wastewater samples into a homogeneous state. These are achieved by performing ultrasonic homogenization with high reliability in a short time.

In agriculture, ultrasonic homogenizers are used for sample preparation. For example, ultrasonic homogenizers enable intensive and fine homogenization of cells from roses in a very short time. The final particle size obtainable is less than 1 μm, and the subsequent filtration to wash out the ions is simplified because no agglomerates are formed.

Benefits of the ultrasonic homogenizer.

1、The ultrasonic homogenizer produces small particles/droplets with a narrow distribution curve.

2、Ultrasonic homogenizer can handle a high concentration of solids.

3、Ultrasonic homogenizer can prepare stable suspensions, dispersions, and emulsions.

4、Ultrasonic homogenizer can be precisely controlled because important parameters (such as amplitude, power) can be influenced and adjusted.

5、Ultrasonic homogenizer is very effective, energy-saving, easy to operate, and safe.
