Ultrasonic homogenizers are powerful tools for mixing and homogenizing solid-liquid and liquid-liquid suspensions. Ultrasonic homogenization is a mechanical process that reduces particles in a liquid, making them uniformly small and evenly distributed. Hielscher offers powerful ultrasonic homogenizers for laboratory and production scale. The ultrasonic power supply converts the line voltage into high frequency electrical energy at 20 kHz. This electrical energy is transmitted to the probe where it is converted into mechanical energy. The vibrations from the probe are coupled to the titanium tip and are enhanced. The probe vibrates longitudinally and transmits this motion to the titanium tip immersed in the solution. The result of cavitation, in which tiny vapor bubbles form and implode instantaneously, causes a powerful infinitesimal shock wave to radiate throughout the solution near the radiating surface of the tip.
